Each volume, Northern Spy Records and Bob Holmes of SUSS invite eight artists to curate. Each contributes a new work, then brings two more voices into the fold — twenty-four artists, twenty-four tracks, one volume. Some of those artists go on to curate volumes of their own. The map only grows outward.
Across the Horizon isn't simply releasing music — it's documenting relationships between artists. Each volume, eight curators are invited in; each becomes a guide, pointing toward two peers who've shaped their own ear.
Sometimes those peers become curators themselves, in this volume or the next. The network doesn't fan out from one center; it keeps opening new paths, drop after drop, volume after volume.
Curating Volume One's second drop, Luke Schneider brought forward Kyle Hamlett Duo — and Marisa Anderson.
Two drops later, Anderson returns as a curator in her own right — introducing Charlie Parr and Emily Dix Thomas.

All eight drops are finished — Clarice Jensen, marine eyes, Balmorhea, Chuck Johnson, Alan Sparhawk, Mary Lattimore, East Forest, and Carlos Niño each curated a piece of it. The double LP is now at the pressing plant; subscribers receive it this December, alongside the risograph zine.
