Their Contribution

“Treasure”

Mary Lattimore: harp, synth, guitar

“When Nailah and Meg and I discussed possible common themes in our lives that could inspire our pieces, the idea of home and also planting things, gardening, seemed to be threads. My new song, Treasure, is about building a version of home in a small Tuscan town where I recently bought a fixer-upper with a friend.”

Mary Lattimore is a harpist and composer living in Los Angeles, experimenting with a concert grand harp through loops, effects, and synthesizers. She has collaborated with Meg Baird, Kurt Vile, William Tyler, Laraaji, Walt McClements, Julianna Barwick, and Moor Mother, among others.

Guest Artists on This Drop

Every curator brings two more voices into the volume. These are theirs.

Guest Artist

Meg Baird

“Little Jack's Home in My Arms”

Meg Baird: Wurlitzer, Farfisa, lap steel, vocals

“My neighbors across the way have a little ginger cat, Jack, who often forgets where home is and now thinks home is everywhere, including my front doorstep. In those moments when I swoop him up to carry him back down the drive, I feel like I'm living here.”

Since co-founding Philadelphia's psych-folk collective Espers, Meg Baird has steadily built a body of solo and collaborative work across folk, acoustic, and underground traditions — recording with harpist Mary Lattimore and helping form Heron Oblivion. She is currently based on California's North Coast.

Guest Artist

Nailah Hunter

“Where We'll Go”

Nailah Hunter: harp, voice, electronics

“This track was inspired by a place that I've been visiting in my dreams for over 15 years. There, the colors are vibrant, the light is golden, and the environment is humming with life while also being extremely still. I feel connected to my ancestors in this liminal place.”

Nailah Hunter is a California-based composer and multi-instrumentalist whose work explores experimental harp music through ambient, folk, and electronic sound worlds, informed by ecological themes, fantasy, and embodied listening. She has released music on Leaving Records and Fat Possum Records.
